Rodney -> pkg 2.5 (Oct. 15, '05, 6:51:50 PM)

Announcing pkg version 2.4 for Interix.

This is an update from the last release to fix a bug (a cute
smiley face being added to the name of one of the packages
because it matched an edge condition). It also includes a perf
improvment for the package cacheing of pkg_update.

To update do:
    pkg_update -L pkg

Note: You can still use pkg_add but we are trying to wean users over to using pkg_update for
the multiple platform support in the upcoming future. Thanks.

Rodney -> RE: pkg 2.5 (Oct. 20, '05, 2:35:43 PM)

The installer bootstrap script has been updated to use pkg version 2.5
and it's most current dependencies.

A new option (the first one) has been added named "clobber".
The preferred method is to update packages with pkg_update (yes,
including the installer utilities).
This option is only to be used is extreme circumstances to, literally, clobber what is on the disk.

Updated to version 2.5.2.
This corrects a problem with pkg_update being used behind a firewall
that ftp can only use passive mode with to get information.

Rodney -> RE: pkg 2.5 (Nov. 16, '05, 5:31:36 AM)

Update to version 2.5.3 to add the new '-C' option to pkg_update
for cacheing packages instead of installing them directly.
More information on the man page.

Yet another update that will mostly apply to people running W2K3/R2 on 64-bit.
To handle some odd pathnames when in "thunking mode" with 32-bit processes
on the 64-bit machine some path handling has been improved with pkg
and all of the utilities.
So, in general, this update is not needed by most people.
Current version is now 2.5.4.
