coffee_time_xx -> mount I/O Error (Dec. 7, '05, 12:14:30 PM)

I am having a problem mounting a Windows 2003 share from a Sun 5.7 box. It could be a noob error as this is the first time I am trying anything along these lines. I am a programmer pushed into an admin role. I have searched everything and no luck.

I set up SFU 3.5 on our fully updated Windows 2003 Server machine. I set up user name mapping and the share.

When I telnet into the sun machine as root and run:

mount -f nfs server:/Sharename /local_mount_point

I get the error:

nfs mount: mount: I/O Error

When I check the log file on the server it says that a mount was created succesfully with all the correct info. However on the sun box there is no mount.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem, except that I'm using the active directory for the user name mapping.

I think I solved the problem. Doesn't look like I can NFS share an entire drive. it works when I share a subdirectory.

Yes, I had to re-do my planned drive layout to account for this... I was planning on keeping everything at the root of the drive, but then had to relocate everything under a shared subdirectory.
