Hello there,
I am trying to get public key authentication working with SFU/OpenSSH. I' ve defined Administrator to have a home directory of /home/Administrator (which exists) and created a .ssh with the appropriate files within that directory (authorized_keys2), but it never uses the key for authentication. Is there something SFU-specific I' m missing here before I start to crank up the debug levels?
Thanks,
-Justin

Did you run ssh-keygen to make the " identity" file ?
There shouldn' t be anything SFU/Interix specific.
You might want to check that the " .ssh" directory and it' s contents are not readable or writable for the world. Some apps are sensitive to this for security reasons.

I don' t know about your situation, but the problem that I faced, was in the user profiles. Under Administrative Tools --> Computer Management is a place called Local Users & Groups. For each user, you need to adjust their home directory. In Properties for each user, click on the Profile tab, then type in the local path of the home folder. I used C:\SFU\home\Administrator. I then added a subdirectory, .ssh, with an authorized_keys file.
Let us know how you do.

FYI:
there are scripts that facilitate changing user attributes - script that look like the UNIX equivalents:
useradd, usermod, userdel.
Check out the Microsoft link:

or search for " Interix system admin"
