After installing SFU 3.0 everytime a utility is run (such as ' ls' ) it keeps reporting a permission error.
The install seemed to go okay.
Any hints?

What exactly is the error message? (Always best to know).
When you installed, did you install as Administrator?

The error message says " permission denied" .
I installed with a user in the Administrators group (since this group has enough permissions).

That' s the problem then.
You cannot install SFU 3.0 as a regular user or as a user in the Administrators group (also called " +Administrators" when using Interix). You must be " Administrator" ; full stop, no other way.

The permissions of all of the several thousand files that get installed won' t be set correctly unless SFU is installed by " Administrator" .
Things may work for the one user you installed with for most things, but many things won' t work properly. And for other users things just won' t work at all.

The solution is to uninstall completely and then reinstall as the user " Administrator" .

Could it be the local system Administrator account or does it need to be the domain Administrator account?

Just the built-in local Administrator account will do.
