Annoucement: Installer upgrade
This is to let everyone know that we released an upgrade of the installer. The current version is now pkg-1.4.
We' d like to thanks all of the people who provided feedback and suggestions during the 1.3 beta cycle.
The upgrade allows for members of the Administrators group to install the packages now in addition to the Administrator.
If you have NOT installed the installer previously then download the bootstraping script (in URL format):
ftp://ftp.interopsystems.com/pkgs/3.5/pkg-1.4-bin35.sh
This script should be run be an Administrator or a member of the Administrators group. Once this script has finished packages from the /Tools warehouse can be installed.
If you HAVE installed the installer previously (version 1.2 or 1.3) then you can use the currently installed installer to upgrade itself. You will need to be Administrator as previously for one last time. As Administrator do:
pkg_add ftp://ftp.interopsystems.com/pkgs/3.5/pkg-1.4-bin.tgz
Ignore error messages about " cannot rollback" . I' d left too much information in the 1.2 bootstrap script. Once it is done you can check the upgrade was successful by seeing what pkg_info outputs for the current version of ' pkg' .
All of the packages have been updated to handle being installed by members of the Administrators group.
For people interested a CD version of all of the packages (including the installer) is now available.
It' s taken a month to get to this point. But it' s been a LOT of work, testing, re-testing, re-working.
