Hi all,

I am an experienced NT and Linux admin but am new to SFU. I have installed SFU 3.5 onto an NT4 sp6a machine.

I installed pkg-1.6-bin35.sh with the command # sh pkg-1.6-bin35.sh. Everything appeared to install ok.

However when I try a pkg_add ftp://<ftp-path>/<some package> I get a "Windows NT Exception (core dumped). I tried this just using the pkg_add command with the same results.

Have I missed something that I need to do or incorrectly installed something? I did a google search and searched the forum but didn't see anything. If you know of a link please point me in that direction.

Thanks,
John

SFU 3.5 isn't supported on NT4.
It's supported on Windows 2000 Pro & Server, XP pro & server and
Windows 2003 server (32-bit). The system requirements specifically
list that SFU 3.5 is a no-go with Windows NT.

The core dump is likely from a system call that isn't supported
with Windows NT4. So there's no much that can be done for the
packages from /Tools. You can install SFU 3.5 on one of the supported
systems of course.

Rodney,

Oops I missed that when I installed SFU.

I wish I could do something with it but unfortunately it is one of our domain controllers. However that part of it was a test. My primary purpose for this is to use OpenSSH into a 2000 machine that is linked to our SAN and backup some of our Linux file servers over ssh.

Sounds like I can give that a go then.

Thanks for your help.

John
