Add /usr/X11R5/bin to your PATH or call "xcalc" explicitly with "/usr/X11R5/bin/calc -bg blue -fg magenta"
The man page for "xcalc" gives you a hint. You'll notice by the man page heading that "xcalc" is an X11R5 command. The X11R6 commands are in the default PATH (/usr/X11 is a symbolic link to /usr/X11R6), but /usr/X11R5/bin is not in the deafult PATH.
