You mean FTP or HTTP or another proxy?
MySQL is already on the list (as are IngresR3 and PostgreSQL BTW).
But there are the other DB packages available that may help some people now.

Would Squid 2.5 satisfy your need for proxy software -- it's in the works here at
home (in spite of some known bugs) -- or are you thinking of something else?
As to MySQL, it seems that PostgreSQL is gaining more and more a momentum in the
Open Source movement (been working for years with MS SQL Server, but all I've
read about DBMSs lately, I would give PostgreSQL first priority).

Excellent, it's sort of up and running here at home, needs some more work
though.

Johnsmi - can you post some info about porting issues you've encountered with squid? I'd like to have a try with this, or maybe you can post a packaged binary...

It has biuld without problems, it has started without major problems but it seems to be deaf and blind. I can't connect to it anyhow. Maybe you could give me a hand with getting it to be operational?

Guys,
I had a go at making squid-2.5.STABLE8, it seems to compile ok and install. However after running up (1st need to create cachedirs ~ ./squid -z) the cpu on the squid pid + PSXSS is going ape. A truss reveals the following ..
sysconf () sysconf returned 1024 0x400
select () select returned 0
sysconf () sysconf returned 1024 0x400
select () select returned 0
sysconf () sysconf returned 1024 0x400
select () select returned 0
Anyone with similar problems?

Is there a select() in the code with a timeout of a very small size (not NULL) ?
