Announcing passwd version 1.0 for Interix 3.5.
This is an open source version of passwd that works
essentially the same as the version shipped with SFU. The
reason for this being done was mostly to aid a /Tools Forum
member.
This version does have a rating system for new passwords to filter
out bad choices before sending the request to the system. The rating
is different than the one that ships with SFU.
The system (AD, etc.) still has the final word.
To install do:
pkg_add ftp://ftp.interopsystems.com/pkgs/3.5/passwd-current-bin.tgz[/b]

Since people have asked "what is the rating system".
The man page that comes with passwd describes it.
It checks the password for having lowercase, uppercase, digits
and puctuation characters and being 6 or more characters in length.
If it does 3 of these then it's an okay password.
The password will get rejected if it is the username (forward or reverse).
The password will be rejected if it's in the /etc/passwd.avoid file.
Then it's passed off to the LSA/AD to see if it likes it.
