Hi,
Using Exceed 8.0.0 on my PC as XServer all xterms to SFU dissapear in 30 seconds!!
This is the .xs file I' m using. It works flawless on other Unix flavors.
Any Ideas?
Thanks

How did you start the xterm?
Did you do it from the command line of a shell or another way?

Hi,
Using Exceed from Hummingbird Inc. I have created a Xstart Client Startup profile where the start Method= Telnet (TCP/IP), Program Type= XWindow, Host Type=Linux, command=xterm -sb -j -s -rw -sl 2000 -bg blue -fg white -ls -cr red -geometry 132x50+10+10 -display @d &
This way the xterm will dissapear in exactly 30 seconds.
If I run a telnet session where I type the user/password and then run the commands:
CGYDB002[AEC+sqlsvracct:]/dev/fs/C/DOCUME~1/sqlsvracct> cat openterm
export DISPLAY=CGY00612:0.0
xterm -sb -j -s -rw -sl 2000 -bg blue -fg white -ls -cr red -geometry 132x50+10+10 &
My xterm will be displayed but will remain open like it should...
So my conclusion is that SFU is not happy working with Exceed like any other *nix, when the command is passed to SFU it will kill the process, as if it times out.
I even try with ' nohup' and different host types, Linux, BSD, HP, DEC UNIX, SCO, SGI, SUN and UNIX
At least I found a way to open an xterm that will remain open
I wish I can tell WTH is going on here but...
Bye
Gaspar G.

Hi,
Mystery solved!!
I was connecting to the Windows Telnet server and not the Interix.
All I had to do was stop the windows telnet server and start the Interix. Thanks to Mark F for his help.
