I want to enable the support of 64 bit DLLs in Ruby in we load 32 bit DLL modules in Ruby compiled under Cygwin or MingW. As neither MingW nor Cygwin has matured to 64 - bit, I have decided to try out SFU. My question is
1. Does SFU and Interix supports to build and run 64-bit applications? I have heard that SFU under Windows 2003 Server does support 64 bit applications. Is this true?
2. From what I have found out by studying posts on this forum, there is definitly a possibility of using win32 DLLs in Interix Apps but is there a possiblity of using Win 64 DLLs in Interix under something like Windows 2003 Server running over Itanium?
3. Has anyone tried to load/use Windows DLLs from within Interix applications?

Building on 64-bit machines will only be happening on W2K3/R2. That doesn't start
until (approx.) Dec, 2005 when R2 is released (scheduled for release anyway).
There is no 64-bit support with 3.5 on any system prior to the R2 release.
You will only be able to use DLL's in mixed-mode on R2 with Interix 5.2 (aka SUA).
This will be possible on AMD64 or Intel-64 (and on 32-bit too).
If you need to do it now, then you should try and get the R2 Beta 2 release.
Be sure to read the notes about mixed-mode compiling and linking with a DLL.
