I have had to re-install SFU3.5. I have downloaded and installed pkg_add.

I am now trying to re-install all my useful tools.

If I do:

%pkg_add ftp://ftp.interopsystems.com/pkgs/3.5/ddd-current-bin.tgz
tar: End of archive volume 1 reached
tar: Sorry, unable to determine archive format.
tar: End of archive volume 1 reached
tar: Sorry, unable to determine archive format.
tar: End of archive volume 1 reached
tar: Sorry, unable to determine archive format.
tar: End of archive volume 1 reached
tar: Sorry, unable to determine archive format.
pkg_add(ddd-current-bin): unable to open table of contents file `+CONTENTS' - not a package?
%

What am I doing wrong?

thanks.

Usually when this message appears it's that the ftp connection couldn't be made.
Did you install pkg_add using the current "bootstrap" script? (since it was a fresh installation)

I did ftp ftp.interopsystems.com
then went to the pkgs/3.5/

and did bin
followed by get pkg-current-bin35.sh

once I had it on my system

I went to a sh shell
and did chmod +x pkg-current-bin35.sh
followed by ./pkg-current-bin35.sh

and it intsalled pkg_add.

Okay, that's fine.

If this is the same the XP SP2 system you your other thread (on gcc). Then it may be the DEP thing again.
After DEP is off give it another try.

If it's still not going then try to do an ftp directly to ftp.interopsystems.com and see what the output is.

Your current description (in a different thread) is quite different
and is, thus, a different problem.

Refer to the FAQ for information about DEP (entry 2.07).
