Will things like the Interix pdksh, bash, and/or zsh be something that a typical Windows Vista user will have available to them? Or will this require some additional installation?

Only the Unix subsystem (aka Interix) will be in Vista.
The existing utils/libraries/headers will be available via a separate download.
The only possibility of utils with Vista would be the SysV versions,
since MS licensed these utils. I won't speculate on the probability
of this though.

MS hasn't yet announced everything that'll be in the Vista distribution.
However, utilities such as bash and zsh I'm pretty confident will not
be part of the Vista distribution or any MS separate download (like the R2 one).
They will continue to be made available here (/Tools).

Pardon me for an unintentional hijacking of this thread.
Given that someone has installed Windows 2003 Server R2 and UNIX services included
therein, what else do he/she has to get to have the same functionality as SFU on XP,
and from where?

I assume you mean like NFS and UserName Mapping.
You select these as Windows components the same way that SUA (aka Interix 5.2) is installed
with the Add/Remove tool. All of the components of SFU (except for a few minor things such
as the Win32 rshsvc) are there. The only separate part that is to be downloaded is the
utilties and SDK's for Interix (SUA).

Actually, I was asking about the Utilities and the SDKs. I've learned that a download
link is provided after SUA subsystem is installed. But, what about the additional tools
in SUA, like bash, cvs, rsync etc? I currently have a fully functional SFU on my home PC
with all the necessary tools from the Interix Warehouse (thanks for that!).
Can we simply install the tools from the Warehouse in SUA? I think these tools were built
on and for SFU 3.5. Are they binary (and, source) compatible with SUA too?

Just to cover myself: MS hasn't said anything yet about Vista & SUA.
Given what is in SFU and SUA/R2 it's unlikely that bash, etc. will
be part of the download.
We haven't set up the /Tools packages to be installed without the MS download.
The assumption is that there are at least several of the key utilities.
There is backward compatability with 2003/R2 for the 3.5 libraries.
MS has always been big about backward support, so I think it's likely the
3.5 binaries should run on Vista as well. But I, haven't seen any plan (formal or informal).
