Hi all, I'm trying to install pkg on a 64 bit Intel box, but I get an error after I'm asked if I want to get an update to pkg. I think that all is needed is a symlink on the ftp server for a directory named 5.2-EM64T simililar to 5.2-x86?

 Installation of software completed.

Installer database information has been added so that this software
can be updated with the 'pkg' installer itself.

It is recommended that you close this shell and start a fresh
shell so that the new setting may take effect.

An update for this bootstrap of the installer may be available now.
It is recommended that you update to the most recent version.
Would you like to update now? (y/n)[y]
Using 'pkg_add' to get the update of 'pkg' (the installer).
This will take a couple of minutes...

gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
tar: End of archive volume 1 reached
tar: Sorry, unable to determine archive format.
pkg_add(pkg-current-bin): URL `ftp://ftp.interopsystems.com/pkgs/5.2-EM64T/pkg-c
urrent-bin.tgz' has unknown filename part!
pkg_add(pkg-current-bin): unable to fetch `ftp://ftp.interopsystems.com/pkgs/5.2
-EM64T/pkg-current-bin.tgz' by URL
Finished getting the update for 'pkg'.

 Done.

Very likely. I've only had the AMD systems to see actual results.
I've made the link on the ftp site now.
So it give it a try.

That got through further, thanks. To re-run the bootstrap I ran it with the 'clobber' option.

I think I may have run into a new error, see below for pkk_delete. What do you think?

P.S. Sorry for that duplicate post, I hit the refresh button in explorer since it took a while to come back.

The file mentioned by pkg_delete is for dependency tracking.
I'm not sure if the update finished or not (mostly it looks fine, but we might as well check).
If you do "pkg_info" what does it tell you?

Yup, pkg did update to version 2.5.4.
So your system is up-to-date for the installer.

Let's check the specific file that generated the complaint.
What's "ls -l /var/db/pkg/sort/+REQUIRED_BY" show?
It may need an adjustment (because of the clobber) to keep it quiet in the future.

ack! I typed too fast... sort-1.1-bin is the directory to look.

The permissions/ownership look fine. There shouldn't be a problem.
So it's checked and all should be well :-)
