Dear All,
We are having problems, when connecting via SFU, creating files on an NFS file system. We are using Samba 3.0.21c to share the NFS files to the client PCs. Within native Windows everyhting works perfectly well, and within SFU we can modify, browse delete files happily. The main problem is the error that arises when a user attempts to 'touch' a new file. Even though the file is created correctly, an error is returned with the "Permission denied" message. This is stopping some of our applications working.
I know that this is an old discussion but I haven;t managed to find a solution to this problem. It seems to be caused by the incompatibility between Samba and SFU. If anyone can offer any work arounds then I'd greatly appreciate it.
We are hoping to avoid having Client for NFS on the client PCs, and due to the large number of shares that we have, Gateway for NFS is too limited due to the limited number of drive letters available.
Thanks in advance
Mat

From a look to the future thing (just as FYI).
NFS client is included as part of the OS starting with Windows 2003/R2 (Server)
and with Vista/Longhorn (workstation, server) when it ships.
By "SFU" which part are you discussing. SFU is a collection of several different components.
Are you meaning the Interix component?

I'm really talking about the use of the unix shells (csh, bash) that come as part of SFU install and accessing network resources. I know that this may not be necessarily specific to Interix components, but I was hoping that users within this forum may have come across the same problem.
With regards to the inclusion of Client for NFS in the next Windows releases, we will still expect to disable this functionality for normal usage.
Cheers,
Mat
