Hi,

I noticed in a message posted a year ago that there was a free "local" version of the Starnet XWin32 server available. The link in that message doesn't work anymore, however, and I found no mention of a free version of XWin32 on the StarNet XWin32 site. Does anyone know if it's still available?

Are there any other choices for a free local-use X server besides Cygwin?

Thanks,

Tom

StarNet's LX version of XWin32 is no longer available.
There's an active thread on this over the past week or so.
XWin32 is still available as the full version.

There are several choices for X servers:
buy: Xwin32, Exceed, Interopsystems, Reflection/X
free: Xming, cygwin/X, X-Deep/32

The Xming and X-Deep/32 don't require anything else to be installed.

Bummer. The only recent message I saw seemed to suggest that it was still available. I'll try one of the others, then.

That thread finished just before we (meaning Forum readers) found out LX was concluded.
The thread you want to read is: Starnet X-Win32 LX defunct
