I've got a Windows XP build server running SFU 3.5. It builds some code located on an NFS drive, which is served from a Linux machine. This drive is mounted with a drive letter, so the build tools access it as Z:\ (if they're native-Windows) or /dev/fs/Z (if they're native posix). I'm using GNU make to drive the build.
Most of the time, believe it or not, it works just fine. But occasionally one of the tools reports an error:
make[2]: Entering directory `/dev/fs/Z/src/'
candle.exe -out build/Windows_NT-i386/ClientInst.wixobj ClientInst.wxs
make[2]: *** [build/Windows_NT-i386/ClientInst.wixobj] Error 66
make[2]: Leaving directory `/dev/fs/Z/src/'
make[1]: *** [src] Error 2
Error 66 is "Wrong network resource type" or words to that effect. If I repeat the 'make' command, without changing anything, it will work. In fact, this error happens only very infrequently. None of the other tools in the build (a couple of C compilers, linkers, and some DDK tools) has ever reported this problem.
Candle is part of WiX, the open-source installer from MS, if it matters.
Has anyone seen anything like this? Got any suggestions I could try? It's not a showstopper of a problem, but it can be annoying.
Thanks!
