I am running SUA on Windows 2003 R2, but am unable to get the modem working.
The modem is attached to COM3 and works fine when used by HyperTerm.
The remote file looks like this:
[~] cat /etc/remote
myapp:dv=/dev/tty02:br#9600
This is how tip runs:
[/tmp/WORK] tip myapp
Stale lock on tty02 PID=1059... overriding.
/dev/tty02: Device not configured
link down
This is how an in-house utitility from our application (com) runs:
[/tmp/WORK/tools] ./com -I 3715
Com Version 3.7
Setting options to: 8 Bits, Full Duplex, No Parity, 1 Stop Bit
Can't open /dev/modem_mc
Device not configured
[/tmp/WORK/tools] ls -l /dev/modem_mc
lr--r--r-- 1 MJOSHI +Administrators 10 Feb 28 17:23 /dev/modem_mc -> /dev/tty02
Notice that "com" and "tip" exit with a message "Device not configured". Tried to look in /var/log/aculog but there isn't much in it. Can you give some pointers that can help us access the modem.

What's the "ls -l" on /dev/tty02 ?
If you do "file /dev/tty02" what does it say ?

Okay, the file type is right.
It sounds like something has messed up the state.
Only one process (Win32 or Interix) can access the port at the same time.
I'd try a reboot to see to that does it.
If that doesn't then recreating the device files might be an easy thing to try.

I have another problem (under SFU, not SUA):
/dev/tty04 - USR 56k voice internal
/dev/tty06 - Ericsson A2618 (via USB cable and USB->com driver)
$ cat /etc/remote
usr:dv=/dev/tty06:br#9600
gsm:dv=/dev/tty04:br#9600
$ tip usr
Stale lock on tty06 PID=517... overriding.
connected
Lost carrier.
[EOT]
$ tip gsm
connected
Lost carrier.
[EOT]
In the examples above after tip's output "connected" I starting to type anything (ATZ for example) and after first keypress "Lost carrier." appears.

On another machine, I am getting a "Permission Denied" error instead of "Device not configured".
I also wrote a small C program to try to write to the serial port". I used open() call to open the port:
fd = open(argv[1], O_WRONLY | O_NDELAY | O_APPEND |O_NONBLOCK | O_NOCTTY)
and it seems to open it.
But then when I write to the port, I get error 11 (Resource not available)
What is holding the serial port? Can some one help?
