Announcing libport version 1.0 for Interix.
This is the release of the portability library that I've often mentioned
in Forum posting and e-mail. Portability in this case covers several
different meanings. One is the addition of new API's not current found
with Interix 3.5 (SUA/5.2 will be getting them). Two is the extension
of functionality of current API's (i.e. more ioctl() requests). Three
is functional portability manipulation for existing API's. This last
one in particular helps by allowing large sections of code to go unchanged
from other Unix platforms for all UID and GID API's when the UID of "root"
and GID of "wheel" has been hardcoded into the source code.
The libport library has been in use for a long time now. I've used
it with several of the available packages (e.g. BIND) and some private
(not released) work (e.g. sendmail).
Currently documentation is the README that displays during installation.
There are some specific API man pages included as well.
To install:
pkg_update -L libport
