I'm new to using interix and I have got the ssh working between a windows 2000 server and my linux X366 server but the rsync will not work wether I try running it locally or between the 2 servers. I get the same error each time;
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed [0 bytes received so far]
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12)
Is there anything I'm forgeting to do when I install it?

Did you start syslogd and then check the logs to see if a message is there?
Refer to the syslogd man page about starting it.
WHich method are you using with rsync? (daemon or transport? If transport, rsh or ssh?)

Thanks for the pointer. I found out it was the usual Microsoft problems. When I tried to run rsync is was doing a core memory dump which is down to the NoExecute=AlwaysOn line in the boot.ini file. I had changed this to OptIn earlier as I had Core Dump issues and I assumed this had solved those problems. It looks like rsync will not work if this is set to anything other than AlwaysOff.
Thanks again, everthing is working great with rsync in transport method running ssh.
