Well, Microsoft still hasn't released Monad as part of the general OS.
But they have renamed it to Power Shell. mmm, I guess no one was supposed to notice
that there already exists a Unix shell by that name...

There's lots of comments over on Slashdot about it. The one comment that I must share
came from "eman1961" ("I've tried PowerShell (Formerly Monad)"):

Unix shell scripts are also incredibly good at manipulating text files, using awk, grep, sed, cut, etc. I tried to do such a task with PowerShell and found it wanting. I revered to Windows Services for Unix (basically the Korn shell).

Hopefully eman1961 has grabbed more stuff from /Tools :-)

To give a balance, there are many who do like Monad. In fact, a couple of the guys who
used to work at Softway Systems (Interix before MS) have continued development work with it.
