Hi, I am trying to connect to a UNIX machine server from a pc running Windows XP to try to get graphic applications to display on my pc. I downloaded a trail version of Xwin-32 and tried setting it up, but it simply won't connect with the UNIX server. I configured the firewall to allow Xwin-32 to run through it. The problem, I suspect, is in the "command" window of Xwin-32 configuration dialog box. You are supossed to enter a UNIX comand to properly set up the display environment variable. I was told to use "seten DISPLAY IP_address_number:0" but this would not work.
On the other, I can connect using ssh secure shel client to the UNIX servers alright, but I cannot get the graphic applications to display...
The version of Xwin-32 I downloaded not only allows to display UNIX graphics but also open Xterminals as well but I get it to open neither of the two....

Any ideas??

Thanks

The command "setenv ..." is for when you are using a the shells csh or tcsh.
If you are using sh, ksh or bash then you use "export DISPLAY ip-address:0"
where ip-address is the IP address of the box running the xserver.

Understand that it's not X-win32 that selects what applications can run. It's the display; it displays what
it is told to. The application depends on what's available on the client-side. So all X-server are capable
of displaying an x-term.

If you still have problems then you should contact Xwin-32 directly.
