I'm triing to install openssl.
I've just install pkg and download the last version of openssl (openssl-current-bin.tgz).
I've no problem to unpack the archive with winrar on windows but when I use pkg_add I have these error :
%pkg_add ./openssl-current-bin.tgz
gzip: stdin:unexpected end of file
tar: End of archive volume 1 reached
tar : Sorry, unable to determine archive format
......
I can't use pkg_update because this computer doesn't have a web connection...
Can I install a package with the uncompressed datas ? or directly with the sources ?
Thanks for your help ;)

Pkg_update and pkg_add both can reach out and install over the Internet.
These are the same utilities that are used to installed from the Toolworks CD and
from local disks as well.
I don't know why you are trying to do something with 'winrar' (a Win32 tool).
You're just messing things up. Each package is a compressed archive, but the
content is special and is used by the installer to do a number of things.
Installing files in the right location is just one of the things. The installer
handles conflicts, rollbacks, uninstalls and, very key, dependencies on other
packages. The packages are a binary distribution, not for hand installation.
The openssl package depends on other packages to get installed right too.
You need to have these accessible as well (by Internet, CD or on local disk).
Somehow you got the bootstrap of the installer and one package by Internet.
So you have some connection. I suggest you read the the web page:
http://www.interopsystems.com/tools/pkg_install.htm
for an overview of how things work.
You can also get a copy of the packages by CD (real platter or ISO) for
secure/non-connected facilities. Most site people think are unconnected do in fact
have a proxy running on their firewall that can be used.
