Is there a patch release (service pack) for SFU 3.0 running with Windows 2000?

No Services Packs have been done for SFU 3.0 (regardless of the OS).
What is the problem you are seeing?

The SFU 3.0 ftp utility is run from a script and, intermittently, the session just appears to hang. A reboot of the FTP server we communicate with has drastically improved the situation. The session hang has occurred both when files were being transferred and when there were no files to retrieve.

Ah, I see.
It' s been known for a couple of months now that the ' ftp' client with SFU 3.0 has a problem when run in a script. The SFU dev team knows about it, but I don' t know when the fix will appear.
However, a better sol' n exists :-) I ported the newer ' ftp' client to Interix 3.0 and the script problems are fixed using this. It also
defaults to binary mode all of the time and has a nice progress graph.
It' s in the /tools warehouse under ftp (http://www.interopsystems.com/tools/warehouse.htm).

This may need to be on a new thread. Please replicate it if you think so. I downloaded the file ftp-3.2-bin.tar.gz from the tools warehouse and the gunzip runs fine. However, ' tar -t ...' is giving me " tar: Failed open to read on /dev/rmt8: No such file or directory"
My swag is that a remote server is referenced in the archive. Is there any way to stub it out?

You didn' t specify the file option so the default is to the tape device.
To extract you want to type:
tar xvf ftp-3.2-bin.tar
If you only want to see the tar table (archive listing) then:
tar tf ftp-3.2-bin.tar
