When installing SFU 3.0 on a Windows 2003 server I got this error message: cannot update NIS schema
Any ideas?
I did a search but could not find any post related to this

It might have to do with a uid mapping not matching.
There was at some point (and this is some vague memory) something changed with AD
during one of the Windows updates/versions. I think it was with specific accounts.
But I can't seem to find the reference now.
You could try upping the version to the 3.5 release of SFU -- it might help.
