It looks like the latest beta SUA on Vista 5472+ and LH server cannot work with pkg_update, etc. The reason is the same as last time - an internal jump on the version number supplied by the POSIX system.
On the Feb CTP, etc this was incremented to 6.0-x86. Latest builds from MS are now 10.0-x86. The last problem was fixed with a symlink in the FTP directory on the Package Warehouse.
Here is the relevant info from my terminal:
$ pkg_update -A
Gathering package information...
pkgs/10.0-x86: No such file or directory
Starting checks for updates
Done.
$ uname -a
Interix BuenaVista 10.0 10.0.5464.0 x86 Intel_x86_Family6_Model13_Stepping8
$

The 6.0 is the version number that uname should report for SUA-Vista.
The "10" part of "10.0.5464.0" is the MS build number for Vista itself.
But the version number of Vista should still be "6.0" too. The uname
utility is just reporting what it's told by the API call to the subsystem.
There are other things not working right too with these builds.
There wasn't a problem the previous time (with 6.0). It was just that we weren't doing
anything for Vista then. I don't think there's much reason to support the broken 5472
or 5464. The Vista Beta2 (5384) seemed to be okay. But these other ones aren't even RC1.

Is there a good way to spoof/proxy this URL from the commandline? I'd like to be able to use something like 'alias', but obviously that won't work...
How do I make pkg_update accept the redirection, without symlinking on the ftp source?
Thanks!

You can download the package files and then directly install them with pkg_add.
or
You can try doing it by ftp specification to pkg_add:
pkg_add ftp://ftp.interopsystems.com/pkgs/3.5-x86/jot-current-bin.tgz
We're trying to get everyone over to using pkg_update since it's easier for
people to use. But pkg_add will always be around.
Anyway, the line above specifies 3.5-x86. With your "odd" Vista this is the best thing
to do for a workaround for now.

Thanks. I'll report my results.
I am now on 5533 - a "pre RC1" - but the uname is still borked.

I'd actually updated in another thread about this not happening for RC1.
Just missed the cutoff apparently...

Yeah... I spotted it in the other forum. :) Shame... though I guess can take solace that it is fixed in for RTM.
