In SFU 3.5, typing "perl" or "perl <parameter>" in the korn shell, having installed perl 5.8.8 with "pkg_update -L perl" and then libcrypt with "pkg_update -L libcrypt", gives errors about missing libcrypt.so and then stops. Not a lot of use.
There were also messages about spaces in the HOME variable but no instructions about how exactly to cure this. Entering "set HOME=<somewhere>" didn't alter HOME.
Any thoughts?

If you have installed libcrypt then try starting a new shell.
The additions to the environment variables are only picked up with a new login.
Refer to the FAQ about setting a home directory for a user.
HOME is set based on the content of the user database first.
Then if the user db is empty it gets a Win32 version (yes, this is wrong, but
I'm just the messenger here; a sol'n will be offered to this in about a 6 weeks).
