I've installed SFU, it comes with csh, and ksh, and I later installed bash.
in all 3 of them:
^H = backspace
^? = delete
etc. etc. etc.
All the key bindings seem to be identical for all three. I'm having problems when I ssh to other servers. I send ^? as delete, but all the other users send ^? as backspace. I'm wondering if there's any way I can change what my machine "sends" as delete and backspace.
I thought that the "Terminal" decided what gets sent, i.e. xterm, rxvt, vt100, each terminal type would have it's own default values for different keys. Is there any way for me to change which type to emulate? I know with the putty ssh client, for example, there are all sorts of options as far as which terminal to emulate, and which characters to send as backspace, etc.
Any help, even just an explanation of how any of this works, would be appreciated.
