I've just installed Xming alongside SFU, tested with Xclock, etc and working fine but xterm isn't accepting keyboard input. It starts, I get a $ prompt but nothing happens when I type. I can paste text from the clipboard using the mouse and the shell responds with the expected error from the junk command. Does anyone have any ideas?
thanks.

It'll be an Xming thing. The xterm has been working with several different
X-servers for several years. I had used it with Xming before. SO you can use another
X-server or perhaps you can roll back to a previous version.

turns out it was a known Xming issue with SFU. Workaround, uncomment the following environment variables in the Windows environment before starting the X server:-
XAPPLRESDIR
XCMSDB
XKEYSYMDB
XNLSPATH
